ABOUT ME

Hi!

My name is Vivian, and welcome to Alpha Paws Crèche! My inspiration for Alpha Paws:

-KOOLIE
Koolie came to me and my family at just a few months old in March 2007. A family friend was moving the entire family out of the country and could not take Koolie with them.
Unfortunately Koolie lost his battle with cancer on the last day of 2020. He lived a happy 13 (almost 14!) years with us.

Rest in happiness, my sweet angel!

-JOSHUA
I was volunteering at an animal shelter in Sacramento, CA, when I first saw Josh in his kennel. He wasn't hard to miss, as he was breathtakingly handsome. At the time, I was living in a small 2 bed/2 bath apartment with a roommate and did not have the space for a dog (especially a then-80+ pound GSD/Doberman!). However, a couple weeks went by, and I kept seeing Josh around. I was surprised, as I would have thought such a handsome guy like him would be quickly adopted. Turns out he had a rough past and a bite history, making him a tough cookie to take home. I didn't care, and I had been thinking about getting a dog for some time, so I pulled the trigger. Josh was my very first own dog. Sure, I grew up with Koolie, but Koolie was always more of the family dog. Josh was my entire world. A couple of months after he settled in a little bit, some of his behavioral issues started to show. I called around for dog trainers and even went to a couple different ones before settling on Rene (check out our Partners page for more info on him!) Josh boarded with Rene for one month and returned to me a brand new dog. I took him with me everywhere - Target, Trader Joe's Lowe's - you name it, I took him with me. We also went on daily 5+ mile walks/runs and trips to the dog park that was right next to my apartment complex. I was the happiest I had been in a very long time. I spent hours playing with Josh and continuing his training. Josh would bring a toy over to me several times throughout the work day, and I would never hesitate to take a break and go play with him. On the weekends, I'd take him to the lake or the beach to go swimming.
When Josh passed away unexpectedly due to a tragic accident, I was devastated. Absolutely heartbroken. To help with the pain and grief, I turned to Rover. I've had fantastic experiences thus far, and I'm not ready to get another doggo of my own (yet), so I decided to create Alpha Paws Crèche!

Rest in happiness, my sweet boy!
